Hello, My name is Stephanie!
I’m currently work with FDNY Engine 54 in Midtown, Manhattan.
I just achieved my 5-year milestone with the FDNY. I left being a research scientist to actualize my childhood dream of becoming a firefighter. I'm so glad I went against the social norms of my early environment because I have a career which satisfies my adventurous, active, academic and adrenergic nature. Every run is different and requires innovation and swift critical solution-based processes resulting in profound and rippling consequences. I'm in my element under pressure and in chaos. Aside from the heterogeneity of the job itself, my favorite aspect of my career is the simplicity of the shared camaraderie. It is a space where one's abilities outweigh the superficial and where the pride runs so viscerally, it motivates you to strive for excellence.
